Dr Rupert W Leong (M.B.,B.S., M.D., FRACP, AGAF) is a consultant Senior Staff Specialist gastroenterologist at Bankstown, Concord and Macquarie University Hospitals and Associate Professor of Medicine at The University of New South Wales and Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. His expertise include interventional endoscopy (upper GI and colonoscopy), EUS, and management of inflammatory bowel diseases. Rupert is committed to individualized, high-quality management, and fostering novel research.
Dr Leong runs a busy IBD Clinic at Concord Hospital that involves an IBD Nurse, IBD Dietician, IBD Pharmacist, IBD Clinical Research Staff, IBD gastroenterology fellow and medical students. Private Direct Access Endoscopy (consultation on the day of the endoscopy) can be provided especially for eligible patients.
Current clinical trials: mesenchymal stem cells, vedolizumab, ustekinumab, anti-interleukin protein-10, selective adhesion molecule inhibitors (SAMI). New anti-TNF products (golimumab).
