Description

Corse owner Mick Mitchell has had a passion for high-performance cars and motorsport since an early age. After leaving school and completing his apprenticeship with an Alfa Romeo dealership, Mick was recruited by Australian motorsport legend Colin Bond to work for his racing team in the 1980s. During his stint with the Bond team, he worked on cars as diverse as the Group A Alfa Romeo GTV6 and 75 Turbo, and the awesome Ford Sierra-Cosworth RS500. Unlike today, when race teams employ specialists in engines, transmissions, electronics, suspensions, machining, fabrication and bodywork, back then race mechanics had to be skilled in every area of car preparation - and repairs! In 1992 Mick opened Corse Automotive and Motorsport in Wetherill Park, close to Sydneys geographic centre. The workshop provides a complete range of mechanical services to professional and amateur drivers with cars in any motorsport category, as well as high-performance road cars, including Porsche and Alfa Romeo.
Corse also provides a trackside support service for race meetings, rallies, testing and track days. Classic car restoration is another Corse speciality. Over the years, Corse has been contracted by numerous racing drivers to prepare their cars in various motorsport categories. Mick Mitchell has a reputation for first-class workmanship, and his friendly, helpful approach is a rare in the pressure-cooker motorsport environment.
In 2004 he was the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup Mechanic of the Year, and in 2007 he was the Australian GT Championship Crew Chief of the Year. In 2012 he masterminded Neal Mustons dominant victory in the Radical Australia Cup series.
