At Curra Creek in central west NSW, Dionne & Ian grow figs naturally, without herbicides/ pesticides. Hot summers provide perfect conditions for figs. 350 orchard trees include a range of fig varieties; black genoa, brown turkish, green, mission and white adriatic. There are 2 harvests/year; first in mid-December when the smaller 'breba' crop matures on last season's wood. The 2nd or main crop on new wood is from mid-January through Figuary and March, sometimes extending into April, depending on the season. Figs are harvested in the cool evening, then brought fresh the next day to market. We also grow and sell fresh garlic, select in-season vegetables, and raw honey. Dionne produces a range of value-added fig products, including jams and pastes, other seasonal products (jams, chutneys, relish) made with fruit/vegetables/garlic grown on farm. Our products maximise fruit/veg/herb/spice flavours by reducing sugar content. They have no added gums or thickening agents, and are gluten-free.
