FreeDBs History starts from 1960 where Mr Pieter Free started "Caples Car Radio". Caples was heavily advertised on 6PR with the slogan "Dollar Down Dollary a Week. Come in and buy your Car Radio at Caples with Peter Free - The Man who put the FRE in Fremante!" Michael Modeleo joined as an Installer in 1976 and has led the way in the Car Stereo industry in Australia. In 2003, Caples Car Stereo was sold and enventually closed down.
In 2006. Michael Mondello and his son Jason opened FreeDB Car Stereo in the same location. With Michael and Jason at the helm of FreeDB Car Stereo, the company is serving the third generation of Australians in Car Audio.
FreeDB is renowned for regularly hosting MegaCrank Sound Off Competitions.
