Garrards founder and owner Steven Kakoliris opened the first Garrards store in 1993, at the time as a small Gift Shop on Settlement Road, Thomastown, Melbourne. The vision was to establish one day a giant emporium Garrards Store, with a wide range of local and international brands. The vision was to become a reality, when across the road from the small Gift Shop, an area of vacant land became available. This vacant land was to become the site of the first giant emporium Garrards Store, and was the ideal spot to design and build the giant emporium Garrards Store covering 3500 square metres, and even with its own fully licenced Cafe.

The large scale emporium store included a huge range of brand products from around the world, with strong emphasis on unique luxury gifts and collectables.

Now 19 years later, Garrards has come of age, and relocated their flagship Store to a place which reflects and complim.
