Hair Merchants of Unley was created by Simon Lumsden (thats me!) in response to over a decade of working in a large multi stylist salon and working for Redken 5th Ave NYC as an educator both here and Melbourne. Visiting many types of salons from the owner operated like mine to large formidable salons in the industry both here and interstate.

Having trained as a classical ballet dancer from the age of 5 my dream was to dance. However due to injuries after a stint at The Australian Ballet School that wasnt to be and was a late starter to hairdressing at 26.

Over the years I have worked in salons and as an Educator with Redken - winning "National Educator of the Year 2007" for excellence in education.

In 2012 I took a leap of faith taking over a sad and tired salon. Needing a big clean out and a colour change, I opened after a week offering one on one service to create beautiful shiny hair that always looks its best, not just the day of your salon visit.
