Hi, Im Elly, founder of Honey Im Home. Honey Im Home was created in the spare bedroom of my home in Yarraville, Melbourne. In the first year of married life, I made the switch from teaching high school science to substitute teaching, which gave me heaps more time to do the other things I love - one of the things being sewing. After spending the holidays with the in-laws in NZ, Sue, my mother-in-law, inspired me with one of her beautiful aprons. So this love coupled with this inspiration lead me to hunt for fun and exciting materials and buttons to use in my creations! The fabrics and buttons I use are all new, vintage or recycled (cotton - unless vintage or recycled material content is unknown) and are sourced within Australia and also around the world on my (and my friends) travels.
The 50s housewife style of Honey Im Home is not supposed to be controversial or sexist at all. I just enjoy baking and having friends over for dinner or tea parties and I know there are others that love to do the same. So why not look smashing at the same time? On a side note.. I have had SO much fun creating Honey Im Home .
Its taken about a year of enjoyment (and hard work) to get to this point, and for that I would like to thank all my family and friends for their encouragement and love! I would esssspecially like to thank my beautiful and talented husband, Matt Sabet Collins, for his endless support, inspiration and patience with me AND for his AMAZING skills in graphic design and photography. I honestly dont want to know what type of a website you would be looking at right now if I didnt have his help! December 2010.
