Description

Voice Teachers - Lisa Roberts Scott & Jamie Scott The combined experience of Lisa & Jamie Scott spans a broad range of musical genres, from musical theatre to jazz, contemporary pop, rock and opera. After having studied extensively overseas they are passionate about teaching Australian singers how to develop their voices naturally and sing freely. Now teaching voice lessons in Hobart at IHOS studio in North Hobart and The Independent Theatre in North Sydney.www.ihosopera.com www.theindependent.org.au Their method focuses on the release of all unnecessary muscular action for the free production of tone promoting the natural development of resonance and good intonation, clarity of tone and clear articulation of words. They teach the crucial connection between the speaking and singing voice promoting the unique vocal identity of singers creating a clear and honest delivery unaffected by vocal tension.
Sound is produced respecting the physiological laws of nature and without imitation or falsification of sound, providing a solid foundation of vocal knowledge of vocal registers and how to blend them, vocal range, posture, breath support, carry power, phonetics. An important aspect of their work is to incorporate movement to develop the vital connection of voice with physicality to increase vocal freedom and potency of vocal expression. After extensive study in Italy examining the many crucial technical aspects of vocal development, Lisa Roberts Scott & Jamie Scott recognized the importance of integrating their dance & sporting backgrounds in order to foster performers who were not only able to sing beautifully but also to perform dynamically and spontaneously.
"Lisas unique approach to voice work is both intuitive and exciting. The way she connects physical understanding and physical expression to the voice leaves any other vocal training without a body, which to me, leaves a voice without meaning." Ingrid Weisfelt, choreographer, Feldenkrais practioner
