Description

Trina Day Architects was formed in 2011. We work out of a shared studio space in Waterloo, Sydney. The types of projects that we enjoy working on include residential, exhibition design & cultural projects. Residential. Trina Day Architects is most interested in projects that deal with the adaptation of existing housing stock to suit the changing demographics of Sydney. This type of project is interesting because it deals with issues of density and affordability, and explores a potential model of sustainably transforming the city to suit population growth and an increased diversity of household types. We are currently working on a number of residential projects including ‘One and a Half ‘House on a small site in Chippendale. Exhibition Design. For exhibition design projects, we work in collaboration with Sarah Jamieson who is a spatial designer and installation artist. Our collaboration is called LOOSE AND, which is a name derived from the old signage of our studio, WaterLOO SEcondhAND. LOOSE AND completed the exhibition design for the Egypt Room for Sydney University Museums in 2015 andwe are currently working on a Vision Document for a Community Centre for KARI, which is a not-for profit organisation providing foster care for indigenous children. Cultural. Trina Day has an extensive background in cultural and heritage projects. She has a love of buildings and spaces with a strong narrative element. Of particular interest are projects that combine elements of heritage, landscape and art projects. Trina Day Architects is currently working for Lane Cove Council on a conservation and interpretation project for an underground water cistern at the heritage listed Carisbrook House.
