Personal Background: Vilny graduated with honours in 1976 from the University of New South Wales.
He joined the respected Sydney firm Philip Cox and Partners in 1976 where he gained experience on a wide variety of civic, institutional and domestic scale projects. In 1981 he transferred to Grafton to become Manager of the associated architectural and planning practice of McDonald Cox Corkill Pty Ltd. In 1984 he became a Director of McDonald Brickman Corkill Pty Ltd, a firm specialising in planning, civic and institutional architecture and environmental studies and analyses.
He established the firm’s Coffs Harbour branch in 1989. In 1992, following the retirement of fellow Director, John McDonald, he established Vil Brickman Architects, enabling him to continue to utilise his accumulated architectural experience on a variety of commercial and government projects as well as housing and aged care facilities.
