Description

The Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA) is the peak body for the alcohol and other drug (AOD) education, prevention, treatment and support sector in Western Australia. Since its establishment in 1984, WANADAs membership has developed to reflect a whole-of-community approach to alcohol and other drug issues. WANADA is an association of organisations and individuals working to improve the quality of life of people and communities affected by alcohol or other drugs. WANADA is an independent, membership-driven not-for-profit association.
Paid staff are supervised by an elected Board comprising agency delegates and individuals drawn from the membership. Aspiration To drive across-sector solutions that focus on a whole of community approach to addressing health and wellbeing issues associated with the use of alcohol and other drugs. Purpose To lead and enhance the capacity of the alcohol and other drug sector to meet the needs of the Western Australia community.
Strategic Intent advocate for beneficial, effective and sustainable change ensure that it is the needs of the community that drives the direction and focus of the organisation and sector enhance the viability and capacity of WANADA members to best meet the needs of their community identify and implement effective and efficient collaborative initiatives promote evidence based approaches to alcohol and other drug policy, planning and service delivery be recognised as an independent, credible, respected and influential stakeholder Funding WANADAs core funding is provided by the Western Australian Drug and Alcohol Office (DAO) and the Commonwealth Department of Health.
